March Mystery Quilt (2013)

Before we get down to business, we just want to thank all of you for your kind gestures of sympathy and compassion with Mom's passing.  Your concern provides a great deal of comfort.
THANKS!

Now, let's make a quilt.  We were really pleased with the way this one turned out.  Hope you love it too!

Draw a diagonal line on the back of the 2 1/2 inch background squares.  Place a 2 1/2 inch square on opposite corners of the large print square.  Sew on the drawn line.

Trim 1/4 inch from away from the sewn line.

Press open.

Complete 80 squares.

Sew the completed squares in sets of two with a 2 1/2 inch sashing strip between as shown below.  (Be careful of direction.)

Sew a 2 1/2 inch blue square between two sashing strips.  (Create 20.)

Sew one of these sashing strips between two of the units created above.  Again, pay attention to direction.  The main print should form an X.

Complete 20 blocks.

Sew the blocks in rows of four with a 2 1/2 inch sashing between each block.

Create five rows.

Sew four of the long sashing strips end to end with a blue 2 1/2 inch square between each.

Create four of these strips.  Sew one between each of the four block rows.

Add the borders - quilt, bind and you're done and ready for Spring!

This photo shows the layout a little better.

Thanks for participating in our mystery quilt program.
Please help us spread the word and tell your friends about it.
Happy sewing!

Here are some of the fabrics for April's Mystery quilt.
We will be using the Elk Ridge collection from Riley Blake.

Starflower Serenade correction

We apologize again but we have a correction on the Starflower Serenade instructions we passed out on Saturday.

In the cutting, the blue center square should be cut 4 1/2 inches  not the 2 1/2 that was printed.

Again, we are so sorry.

We still have a few spaces for tomorrow's mystery quilt.  (It turned out really cute!)  Call us if you would like to participate (801-465-9133).

Have a great day!

Becky's Mom

As some of you know, Becky's mom passed away this week.  She lived her life for her family, always willing to help when needed and forever giving of what she had.  The photo above is one of our favorite.  At 86 she was willing to hop on the back of a four wheeler with our son Mason.  She stated that Mason was going a little too fast.  (Mason claimed to be going extra slow so she wouldn't be scared.)  What a marvelous legacy we have to live up to!

We will be closed Monday, March 18th for the funeral.

Thank you for your kind expressions of love and sympathy.  They are more comforting than you know.

Block party correction

We goofed again.....Sorry!

For those of you doing the Starflower Serenade block party we need to make a correction.  The paragraph that begins with "Match the brown 5 1/2 square...."   Should be corrected to read - Match the red 5 1/2 inch square.

Hope this helps.
