New block party beginning Nov. 3

We will be starting our new block party on November 3.  We would love to have you join in the fun!

Becky has designed a wonderful commemorative quilt to celebrate family.  Here is a photo of the quilt in progress.

We have chosen some of our favorite blocks from past quilts to create the sampler blocks that will border each side of the quilt.  Of, course the date can be changed to suit your situation.  What a wonderful way to celebrate a wedding or anniversary of a loved one.

We plan to complete the quilt in 15 sessions.  The $30.00 sign up fee will include the first session.  The remaining 14 sessions will be just $7.50 per session.

Give us a call at 81-465-9133 to reserve your spot.

September Mystery Quilt

Fall is officially here!  Don't you love the cooler temperatures and beautiful leaves and thoughts of pumpkin and spice and cute little ghouls marching up and down the streets?  Hopefully, the yards and gardens will be put to bed soon leaving you with time to sew and make warm, cozy, beautiful quilts for the cold months ahead.

We are almost ready to turn the page on another month.  That means, we have a new mystery quilt to reveal.  And here it is.....

This one should be pretty fun and done for you with just a simple black snowball block and 6 inch squares.  I think the diverging stars that the corners link together are kind of fun.

We need to remind you all of the Beehive Shop Hop coming up October 10 - 13th.  As always there will be lot's of free patterns, fabulous prizes and all kinds of fun and games.  Please plan to join us and while you are out and about you can stop by the Peteetneet for the annual quilt show that will be going on there.

The mystery quilt for October will be using a Christmas line because you can never have too many Christmas Quilts!

  Give us a call......801-465-9133.

2018 Second Saturday Sampler

Thanks for joining us as we begin the 2018 Second Saturday Sampler quilt.  We will post directions for a new block the second Saturday of each month.

Most of the blocks are created using half square triangles.   Let's begin by going over the basics of creating a half square triangle.

Block one uses 8 four inch blue squares and 8 four inch grey polka-dot squares.

Start by drawing a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4" grey polka-dot squares.

Place each of the polka dot squares with one of the blue print squares with the right sides together and the outside edges aligned.

Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn line.

Cut on the line.

Square the triangle to 3 1/2 inches.  (We find the 6 1/2 inch triangle square up ruler from Quilt in a Day really useful for this step.)

Trim the seam points.

Press toward the blue.

Create a total of 16 half square triangles.   Refer to the photo below to arrange the squares to complete the block.

Block one is done and you are on your way to completing a beautiful quilt.

February mystery quilt revealed

The February mystery has been solved!  What an excellent way to welcome Spring.

We added an optional border.

If you are feeling a little sad that you didn't sign up we have 3 extra kits which include border and binding for only $56.00.

We will be using the Linen and Lawn collection from Riley Blake Designs for the March Mystery Quilt.

Give us a call at 801-465-9133 to reserve your kit.

We are so excited to welcome our daughter home from her mission tomorrow.  Many of you know we have been working on redecorating her room.  A few of you have asked to see how it turned out so we are posting a photo.  She really likes blue so we painted the walls a light blue.  We enjoy finding new uses for old things.  Her headboard is a door from Kelly's family home.  The window frame behind the wreath was from the same home.  A couple of old desk drawers became a nightstand.  The rag rug is from a lot of leftover binding strips as well as a couple of old sheets.  The room turned out very calm and relaxing.
