"Bee Haven" - 2017 block party begins this Saturday

We will be starting the first session of our new block party this Saturday (April 29th).  Many of you have signed up without knowing the details.  Thanks for your support.  The quilt is not yet complete but we have a few of the blocks to show.  Hopefully, you can get the feel of the quilt from the photos below.

Becky is creating a series of random sized blocks that will be pieced together with scrappy connecting patchwork.  The quilt uses the wonderful "Bee Inspired" line from Moda fabrics.

We will be constructing a new block every other Saturday.  Cost will be $15.00 to sign up and $7.00 per session with 12 sessions planned. Those who sign up and pay the $15.00 fee by this Saturday, April 29, will receive the first block free!  Since the quilt is not yet complete we are unsure of the finished dimension but are planning for it to be about full size.  Borders are not included in the cost but will be available while fabric lasts at an additional charge.

So bee inspired to spread the buzz and gather your friends to our hive on Saturday.  We'll all have a honey of a time as we create a bee-u-tiful project together.

Second Saturday Sampler Block 2

Ready for block two?  Here it is - have fun!

To create this block you will need:

4) 4” red squares

1) 3 ½” red square

4) 4” pink squares

1) 3 ½” pink square

4) 4” white squares

2) 3 ½” white squares

Start by drawing a diagonal line on the back of all four white (4”) squares as well as two of the pink (4”) squares.

Place the two pink squares, right sides together and outside edges aligned, with two red 4” squares.  Sew ¼ inch on each side of the line.  Cut apart on the line.  Square to 3½ inches and press open.

Place two of the white 4” squares with two of the Pink 4” squares.  Place the remaining two 4" white squares with the last two 4" red squares.  Sew ¼ inch on each side of the drawn line.  Cut on the line.  Square up to 3½ inches and press open.

Use the photo above as a placement guide to arrange the squares into a heart shape.

Sew the squares together.
