Garden Bouquet
It' mystery quilt time again. I've gotta say, Becky has created another fine one this month.
Quilt as desired. Bind and enjoy!
This is what happens to our beautiful daughter when asked to help cut and package multiple mystery quilt kits.
We are planning on using the roots and wings collection from Riley Blake designs for the July mystery quilt. A sampling of the fabrics are shown below.
As you can see, it is created with alternating applique and pieced blocks. Let's start with the pieced blocks.
Follow the directions in the pattern for cutting.
Draw a diagonal line on the back
of all of the 4” x 4” background blocks.
Place the squares right sides together, with the 4” x 4” print
blocks. Sew ¼ inch on each side of the drawn
line.
Cut on the line.
Square the blocks to 3 ½”. (We love the Quilt In a Day triangle square up ruler for this.) Press toward the print.
Assemble the ½ square triangles and other components to create 10 pieced blocks.
To create the flower blocks, trace blossoms and stems onto the
paper side of fusible web. You will need
enough for 10 blocks. Trim between the
traced shapes and press to the wrong side of chosen fabric. Cut out on the lines. Peel the backing and arrange flower, stem and
leaves on the backgrounds. Press in place. Stitch the edges to
secure. Sew print strips to the flower blocks. (You may find it easier to border the background squares and then do the applique.) Create 20 applique blocks.
Alternate the pieced and applique blocks to create 4 rows with five blocks in each row. Sew the rows together and add the border.
Quilt as desired. Bind and enjoy!
