July mystery quilt

Happy holiday weekend!  The shop will be closed Monday to celebrate Pioneer Day at home with part of the fam.

We finished the July mystery quilt a little early.  You are welcome to stop by and pick up your kits.

 

Becky created matching throw pillows to go with the quilt.  Of course, we have kits available for them as well.  It's a little hard to see in the photo but there is also a matching miniature quilt that hangs from the metal stand that many of you have already purchased.

We backed the quilt with cozy flannel which is also available while supplies last.

We are planning a fall quilt using the Adele in Autumn collection for the August mystery.

Second Sat. Sampler block 3

Several of you have already picked up your squares.  I pulled some from the wrong basket - you probably have block 4 instead of block 3.  Please check to make sure the fabrics are the correct ones for this block.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

For block three you will need:

8) 4" light squares

4) 4" blue squares

4) 4" red squares

I'm guessing you probably have it down by now but we will write the words anyway.

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the light 4" squares.  Match each of these with a red or blue square.  Sew 1/4" on each side of the drawn line.  Cut on the line.  

Trim to measure 3 1/2 inches square.  Press toward the blue or the red print.  

Arrange the half square triangles and sew together as shown in the photo below.

June 2022 mystery quilt

 The June mystery quilt kits are ready.

It will make a great addition to your sewing room or a simple snuggler to cozy up under or a very thoughtful gift for a quilter friend.

We will be doing Christmas in July for next month's mystery quilt using Christmas at Buttermilk Farms layer cakes with a few coordinating fabrics.  

It will be a fun Christmas quilt.  Call us at 801-465-9133 to reserve your kit.

Lastly, this Friday, all kits and yardage (excluding Christmas) will be discounted 20% and select layer cakes for only $30.00.  We will also continue our First Friday sale with select yardage only $5.99 per yard.

Second Sat. Sampler block 2

 For this block you will need:

4) 4" cream squares

4) 3 1/2" cream squares

4) 4" blue squares

2) 3 1/2" red square

1) 4" red square

1) 4" pink square

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4" cream squares.

Match each of these to a 4" blue square making sure the right sides are together and the outside edges are aligned.  

Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn line.  

Cut on the line.

Trim to 3 1/2" inches and press toward the blue print.  (Create 8 blue & cream half square triangles.)

Repeat the process using the pink and red 4" squares to create 2) red and pink half square triangles.

Arrange and sew the half-square triangles and 3 1/2 inch squares as shown in the photo to complete the block.

May mystery quilts

 First of all - have a great Memorial Day weekend!

We will be closed to enjoy some time with the family.

Both mystery quilt options turned out way fun this month.  Here are the photos.

First, the little boy quilt -

We created a bonus back for this one which makes the quilt reversible.  

The Big Boy Quilt-

With the optional borders, as shown, the quilts finish about 70 x 80 inches.

We will be using the Quilt Fair line for June's mystery quilt.

2022 Second Sat. Sampler

 We have had a few folks ask for a photo of the sampler quilt we just finished so here it is.

Hopefully the photo is good enough to get an idea of block placement.
