March Mystery

 The March Mystery kits are ready!

The quilt is fun and whimsical.

Our nine year-old grandson saw this one as it was being quilted.  "I want that one", he said.  How can we refuse - this one has his name on it, literally, Becky quilted it into one of the blocks.  (But don't tell him yet.)

The kits include the fabric for the first border.  The final border and binding can be purchased separately. 

The April mystery quilt will use fabric from the "Springtime" collection from Riley Blake.

Second Sat. Sampler block 11

 For this block you will need:

4) 4" background squares

4) 4" blue squares

4) 4" pink squares

4) 3 1/2" background squares

 

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4" background squares and two of the 4" pink squares.

Match the two pink squares with two blue squares making sure the right sides are together and the outside edges are aligned.  Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn line.  Cut on the line. Square to 3 1/2 inches and press toward the blue.

Repeat the process using the 4" background squares with the remaining red and blue squares.

Assemble to create the star block as shown in the photo below.

February mystery quilt (2023)

 The February kits are ready.  The unassuming taupe and grey color pallet of the quilt is soothing and comfortable.  The secondary patterns add interest and variety.  Hope you love it!

The curves are created with Quiltsmart preprinted fusible interfacing.  The quilt uses two panels of the interfacing which cost $5.48 each.  Purchase the panels with the kit and receive 10% off.

The border on this one is optional.  We used one yard of fabric for the border at $9.99/yard.

Limited yardage of coordinating fabric is available for the back.  It takes 3 2/3 yards and will be sold on a first come basis.

We are releasing this one early because the shop will be closed Feb 28 - March 4 as we will be participating in the Spring Quilt retreat at Ruby's Inn.

Since the Quiltsmart method is new to some of you we are including a little tutorial.  It is really a pretty simple process.

Trim the petals from the panel leaving about 1/2 inch from the outside line of the petal where possible.

Place the fusible (bumpy) side of the interfacing against the right side of the fabric.  Sew on the solid line of the petal.

After sewing the interfacing to the fabric, cut on the outside dotted line.  Cut the petal in half along the long, dotted center line.

Turn the shapes right side out and gently finger press the curved, sewn side.

Create 4 (matching) half petals for each star block.

Center a half petal on each side of the center square making sure the raw edges align with the outside edges of the square.

Press to activate the fusible.  Stitch the curved edge in place.  

We think it's a pretty slick trick.  Hope you enjoy.

February mystery fabric

 Happy Valentine's Day!

Here we are, halfway through the month already and we are just now posting a photo of the February mystery quilt fabrics.  Sorry we are a little behind and thanks for your patience.

We will be using prints from the Boudoir line by Basic Grey for Moda fabrics.

This quilt will have and optional border.  Becky is creating a design that uses preprinted fusible interfacing from Quiltsmart.  The Quiltsmart will not be included in the kits but will be available to purchase separately if you choose to use it.

Because we will be on our way to the Spring Quilt retreat the last Tuesday of the month we are planning on releasing these kits a week early on Feb. 21.  Numbers are somewhat limited on this one so call soon - 801-465-9133.

Second Sat. Sampler block 10

For this block you will need:

4) 4" blue squares

4) 4" red squares

8) 4" background squares

 

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4" background squares.  

Match the background squares to the red and blue squares making sure the right sides are together and the outside edges are aligned.

Sew 1/4-inch on each side of the drawn line.

Cut on the line.

Square to 3 1/2 inches.

Press toward the red/blue print.

Arrange as in the photo below and sew together to create the block.

Becky has created a couple of cute projects to celebrate Valentine's day.

The block is already stained with LOVE stenciled on.  All you have to do is applique the hearts and attach to the board with upholstery tacks that are included in the kit.

January Mystery Quilt

 The January mystery kits are ready!  See the quilt in the photo below.

This one is designed to help chase away some of the Winter blahs and encourage thoughts of warm summer days and all the beautiful things that come with the warmth of the season.

FYI - as most of you know, we participate in the Winter Quilt retreat at Ruby's Inn at the mouth of Bryce canyon.  The shop will be closed Jan. 31- Feb. 5 in order to teach and vend at the retreat.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

January mystery fabric

 We are a little behind after taking a little holiday break but we are starting to catch up.

The January mystery fabrics arrived this morning.

We are using pieces from the "Sweet Picnic" line from Riley Blake.  It'll help remind you of the happy, warm days ahead.
