Draw a diagonal line from corner
to corner on the back of all of the 4 inch squares. Line two of these squares on a 7 ½ inch
square as illustrated.
Sew a scant ¼ inch on each side
of the line. Cut on the line and press
the triangles back.
Place a 4 inch square on the
corner of each of the resulting halves as illustrated.
Sew ¼ inch on both sides of the line. Cut on the line and press the triangle back.
Square the resulting flying geese
to measure 3 ½ x 6 ½ inches.
Repeat the
process, using all of the 7 ½ and 4 inch squares. Create a total of 96) flying geese units.
To assemble the quilt sew a 2 ½
inch sashing strip between two blocks to create a row. Repeat four times to create 4 rows. Sew 2 ½ inch square cornerstones between 3) 2
½ x 12 ½ inch strips. Create 3 of these
rows and sew between the 4 flying geese rows.
Sew the 2 ½ inch sashing strips to the top and bottom of the quilt and
then to the sides. Sew the 5 ½ inch
final border to all sides.
Quilt as desired. Bind and enjoy!
