The Mystery quilt for June

Here is a photo of the June Mystery quilt.

Sorry, the photo does the quilt no justice at all but hopefully, the phot0 will help you with placement as you create your own.  It's a real snuggler with blue minky on the back which we have available while it lasts.

We cut a few extra kits which are available at regular retail price.

Becky has a great quilt planned for July using the fabrics from "Toy Chest 3" collection from Penny Rose studios shown below.  Please join us!

2018 Second Sat. Sampler block 3

If you would like a kit to finish your quilt as we have please let us know by June 15th.  We want to make sure we can acquire the needed fabric to create finishing kits for everyone who would like one.  Please don't wait until we have finished all of the blocks because the fabric will no longer be available by then.

If you ordered an extension kit to create a queen size quilt they are now available.  The cost is $33.00 before tax.  If you havent't ordered, but would like one please let us know before June 15th so we can prepare more kits.

We are grateful for your participation in our Second Saturday sampler and hope you are having a good time creating this beautiful quilt.

For block 3 you will need:

1) 6 1/2 inch background square
5) 4inch background squares
2) 3 1/2 inch background squares
3) 4 inch dark blue print squares
2) 4 inch medium blue print squares
1) 1 x 10 inch dark blue strip for stem

Draw a diagonal line on the back of all five of the 4" background squares.

Match two of the background squares to the medium blue 4" squares with the outside edges aligned and the right sides together.

Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn line.

Cut on the line.

Square the resulting half square triangles to measure 3 1/2 inches.

Trim off the excess points on the seam and press toward the blue fabric.

Match the remaining 4" background squares with the dark blue print squares.

Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn line.

Cut on the line.

Square the resulting half square triangles to measure 3 1/2 inches.

Press toward the darker fabric.

Cut the 6 1/2 inch background square in half diagonally.  Trim the dark blue print strip to 1" wide.  Center the strip between the two halves of the background triangles and sew together.  Press toward the blue.  Trim the square to measure 6 1/2 inches if needed.

Use the photo below as a guide to assemble and sew the block.
