Storybook greeting cards

Kelly's brother has produced a set of Christmas storybook greeting cards.  The set includes 12 cards.  Each card illustrates and relates a piece of an original Christmas story.  It's a meaningful way to reach out to friends and loved ones as the holidays approach, especially in this time of social distancing.

Please take a minute or two to check out the details at https://cardinalgreetings.co/products/twelve-cards-of-christmas

 Thanks!

October Mystery Quilt

The mystery kits are available today for all of  you who signed up.  Becky used a creative disappearing nine patch technique to create the quilt.  Hope you love it!

As is almost always the case, the quilt looks better in real life than our photo depicts.

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind-

We added a few extra blocks to make it a little longer.

The applique is optional - we think it adds a little spark and kits are available if you like it.

We are still pondering options for the November mystery quilt so check back soon.  We will post a soon as we decide.

Have a great day!

THANKS

Thanks to all of you for your support and friendship.  We were happy to see so many of you yesterday as we began our customer appreciation event.

Among other things, Becky created this happy little wall hanging in time to display for the event.

Kits and patterns are still available.  If you like it, come and get one.

And speaking of Christmas merriment - many of you know that Hallmark used our shop to film a Christmas movie this summer.  The movie is called "Christmas Tree Lane" and is scheduled to debut on the Hallmark movies and mystery channel this Saturday at 8:00 p.m.  We are looking forward to seeing our little town and shop in the movies.

September Mystery revealed

Another mystery quilt day is upon us.

Thanks to all of you who are participating.  We regret not being able to provide kits for everyone who wanted one.

Here is a photo of Becky's fun creation with the fabric.

It evolved into something a little different than what she originally anticipated but that is the case with many of them.  It is created with a few half square triangles, easy panel pieces and simple borders.  A truly handsome creation without a whole lot of fuss.

See you soon.

July Mystery quilt revealed

Thanks so much to everyone who signed up for the quilt this month.  The kits sold out again.  The mystery kit includes all of the fabric to the first border.  We really like the optional border which takes an additional yard of fabric.  (Available for $8.99 as long as they last.)

Senond Sat. Sampler block 4

The filming is done and it is no longer Christmas on our little main street.  It was interesting to watch the process.  We look forward to seeing the movie on the Hallmark channel this Christmas season.

Thanks so much for your patience and understanding.

So, now that we have our shop back, we are resuming business as usual.  Here are the instructions for block four.

(We need to mention - if you happened to pick your block up before today (Saturday) don't start just yet.  We cut the backgrounds incorrectly so you will need to pick up a few additional squares of the right size.  Sorry for the inconvenience.)

6) 4" blue squares

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4" background squares.

Shop update

The filming is all done.  We are in the process of getting the shop put back together.  It isn't happening as quickly as we had hoped.

We have cancelled our Friday sale for July because we have not been able to prepare for it.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and apologize for not getting the word out a little sooner but our internet access has been somewhat limited because of the filming.

We will be closed today (Friday) as we work on the shop.

Becky has created some fun new projects we look forward to showing you as soon as we get the shop together.

Thanks so much for your continued support.

June Mystery Quilt

Becky says we are keeping this one.  We really kind of like it.  I think it is one of the best photos we have posted on this blog - so a big thank you to our Daughter, Challis who took the photo for us. (Visit her on instagram @challisinwonderlandphotography.)

I think there is great beauty in the simplicity of the design.  If you hurry, you can have it pieced just in time for Independence day.

So - as we mentioned, there is a movie being filmed on our little main street.  The street has been turned into a winter wonderland.  Our shop is temporarily a music store so we have no access to the retail area to pass out the mystery kits.  We are hoping for good weather on Tuesday so we can set up in the back of the shop to pass out the kits on Tuesday.  You can access us through the Ace Hardware parking lot.  You should see the pop up awning in the back.

If you can't make it on Tuesday, please call ahead to make sure we are at the shop and we will be happy to run the kit out to you.  We should be back to normal at the shop sometime after July 8th.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Our first Friday sale will be postponed because of filming and the holiday.  Stay tuned - we will be posting details as we figure them out.

Second Sat. Sampler block 3

Block 3

For this block you will need:
8) 4" background squares
4) 4" blue squares
4) 4" green squares

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4" background squares.

Place a background square with each of the print squares making sure the right sides are together and the outside edges are aligned.  Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn line.  Cut on the line.  Square the triangles to 3 1/2 inches. Clip the excess corners of the seams and press.

Arrange and sew the half square triangles as depicted in the photo at the top of the post to create the block.

Just a reminder - business as usual here at the shop will be interrupted for the filming of a Hallmark Christmas movie for the next four weeks.  We will be here on a limited basis.  It would be good to call ahead if you need something (801-465-9133).

Have a great day!

Heads Up - movie filming

Our building has been offered a supporting role in an upcoming Hallmark Christmas movie.  Beginning next week (June 15th), the production company is scheduled to move us out and prepare the set for the movie.  We anticipate a three week interruption by the time they set up, film and then put everything back together.  Of course, this will affect the day to day business.  We apologize in advance for the temporary interruption.  We will be conducting very limited business out of the back door but please call ahead to make sure we are here.  Our number is 801-465-9133

We will be passing out kits for the mystery quilt on June 30.  Please plan on coming to the back of the shop.  Don't know yet if we will have a tent set up or if we can create space in the workshop but we'll make it work.  Stay tuned for details.

Since the first Friday in July falls on the holiday weekend we are planning on moving the first Friday sale to the following week (July 10th).  Hopefully we will have the shop back in order by then.

Watch the blog for more details and plan on viewing the movie this Christmas season.

April Mystery quilt

Today is mystery quilt day!

So sorry we couldn't provide a kit for everyone that requested one.

Becky designed this fat quarter quilt to look good and be functional.  It works up with a minimum amount of time and effort so you can feel good about actually taking it camping or throwing it out on the lawn for a picnic.

The quilt finishes about 71 1/2 x 71 1/2 inches.  With only four additional fat quarters you can create a twin size quilt.

Kits may vary slightly.

Please pick up your kits within a week.  Kits not prepaid will be released to those on the waiting list a week from today.  (Please call if you need to make other arrangements - 801-465-9133.)

We are excited to be using the Clover Hollow collection from Moda for the May mystery quilt.

Doesn't it look like Spring and Sunshine?

Call soon to reserve your kit.

A couple of things

We hope you are all healthy and happy!  We have heard that many of you are completing some projects as you heed the suggestion to stay at home.  Way to go!

It is the first of another month.  We are offering select fabric for only $5.55 per yard.  In order to avoid a big crowd on Friday we are expanding the sale to Wednesday through Friday.  Please help us observe the guidelines for social distancing.  If needed, we may limit the number of folks in the shop at any one time. We are regularly wiping down the doorknobs and frequently touched areas to help keep us all safe.

For those who would prefer not to come into the shop we are happy to cut what you need from the bolts pictured above.  You can call us at 801-465-9133 and tell us what you want.  We can take payment over the phone and run it out to the curb when you are ready to pick it up.

We are also offering 10% off all kits and pre-cuts Wed. through Friday.

We will be closed this Saturday so please plan accordingly.

And a final note.  We will be using the "Gone Camping" collection for the April mystery quilt.

Becky is planning a quick quilt that you won't feel badly about someone actually taking on a picnic or camping.

Stay well.

March Mystery quilt

In order to avoid large groups on one day, we are revealing the March mystery a little early.  The kits and instructions are available now.

Becky has created another beautiful (and fun to make) quilt.

As you pick up your kits please remember the guidelines of social distancing and other precautions we have been advised to adhere to.  Our intent in releasing the kits early is to give a little more time for everyone to pick them up rather than all at the same time.

We are so grateful for your continued support - especially at this uncertain time.  Please stay healthy!

This is the last block of the quilt!  You are almost done.

For this block you will need:
8) 4" background squares

We hope you have enjoyed the process as this quilt has come together for you.

We are starting a new Second Sat. Sampler in April.  You can see a couple of the blocks and the fabrics we will be using in the photo below.

We're not sure how we are going to set them all yet but you can get the 12 blocks for only $12.00.  The instructions will all be on line as we have done in the past.  A new block will be available on the second Saturday of each month.  Give us a call if you would like to be included - 801-465-9133.

We wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't for the support our great quilting friends - so THANKS!
