November Mystery Quilt

We wanted to highlight the doll print with this quilt so we chose to do a simple 16 patch alternating with a doll square.  I think the design really suits the flavor of the fabric.

First you will strip piece the 16 patches.

Sew four different strips together along the length of the strips.

Create another set with four different fabrics.

Create eight strip sets in different fabric combinations.

Press the sets and cut into 2 1/2 inch segments.

Sew four different 2 1/2 inch segments together to create the sixteen patches.  Note: If you plan ahead you can press the sets in opposite directions so the seams nest together helping the corners to line up perfectly.

 Create 28 sixteen patch blocks.

Cut 28) 8 1/2 inch squares from the doll fabric.  (Trim the selvage carefully so you can get 5 squares across the width of the fabric.)

Alternate the sixteen patch blocks with the doll squares according to the instructions to assemble the quilt.

Quilt as desired.  Bind and enjoy!  (We machine washed and dried the quilt to give it a shriveled, antique feel.)

We will be using the Aesop's fables collection of fabric from Penny Rose designs for our December Mystery Quilt.  To avoid the busy holiday season, the December mystery quilt will be revealed and kits released on January 5, 2016.
