First, a few items of business -
We have created finishing kits. The kits include dark blue fabric for setting the blocks on point, sashing fabric, border fabrics and binding. The quilt will finish about 72" x 91 1/2". The finishing kits are $58.00 plus tax. We have 17 kits prepared and have ordered fabric to complete more.
If you would like to make your quilt Queen size we will be cutting extension kits. These kits will be a supplement to the above mentioned finishing kits and will include fat 1/8s from the collection to enable you to create 4 more blocks of your choosing, additional setting, sashing and border fabric. With the additional fabric the quilt will measure approximately 94" x 94". The extension kits will be about $35.00. If you are interested in an extension kit please let us know as soon as possible so we can secure the additional fabric needed.
Thanks! Now let's make a block.
For block 2 you will need:
4) 4" taupe and cream squares
4) 3 1/2" taupe and cream squares
4) 4" dark blue squares
2) 4" taupe and blue squares
1) 4" medium blue square
1) 4" cream flower square
To begin, draw a diagonal line on the back of all four of the 4" taupe and cream squares and the taupe and blue squares.
Match the taupe and cream squares to the dark blue squares with the outside edges aligned and the right sides together.
Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn line.
Cut on the line.
Square the resulting half square triangles to measure 3 1/2 inches.
Trim off the excess points on the seam and press toward the blue fabric.
Match a taupe and blue print to the medium blue square and one to the cream flower square.
Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn line.
Cut on the line.
Square the resulting half square triangles to measure 3 1/2 inches.
Press toward the darker fabric.
Use the photo below as a guide to assemble and sew the block.
Until next time, happy sewing and happy Mother's day.
