This layer cake quilt is a pretty quick sew that is sure to delight your favorite cowboy or cowgirl.   

The border on this one is optional but we think the bandana print finishes the quilt quite nicely.

For this block you will need:

Background-

     4) 5" squares

    16) 2 1/2" squares  

Green - 

    2) 5" squares

Peach - 

    2) 5" squared

16) 2 1/2" squares of various prints

 

Sewing: 

Sew each of the 2 1/2" print squares to a 2 1/2" background square.  Press toward the print. Sew 2 of these units together to create a four-patch square.  Crete 8 four-patch squares.

 

Draw a diagonal line on the back of both of the 5" peach squares.  Place a peach square with a 5" green square making sure the outside edges are aligned an the right sides are together.  Sew 1/4" on both sides of the drawn line.  Cut on the line.  Square the resulting 1/2 square triangles to 4 1/2". Press toward the green.

 

Use the photo above to arrange the components and complete the block.

 

Sew 8) 2 1/2" print squares into a row and sew to the bottom of the block.

 

Sew the block to the bottom of block 9.
