Block 11- flag over houses
The Flag
For the flag you will need:
blue square cut 6 1/2" x 7 1/2"
4 red strips cut 1 1/2" x 10 1/2"
3 white strips cut 1 1/2" x 10 1/2"
Alternate and sew the red and white strips together along the length of the strips. Begin and end with a red strip.
Sew the blue square to the left of the strips to complete the flag.
The Houses
For the houses you will need:
Roof – 2)
4 ½” x 8 ½”
Roof
backgrounds – 4) 4 ½” squares
Strip
below roof – 2) 1 ½” x 8 ½”
Doors – 2)
2 ½” x 6 ½”
House
panels – 4) 3 ½” x 6 ½”
Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4 1/2" background squares. Place one on the end of a
4 1/2" x 8 1/2" roof rectangle with the right sides facing and the outside edges aligned. Sew on the drawn line and trim 1/4" from the sewn line. Press. Repeat on the other end of the roof fabric to complete the roof. Create two roof units.
Sew a 1 1/2" x 8 1/2" strip below the roof units.
Sew matching house panels to both sides of the door fabric. Create two units.
Sew the roof units to the top of the houses.
Sew the houses together, side by side.
Sew the flag to the top of the houses.
Sew 8) 2 1/2" squares together in a row. Sew this row to the bottom of the houses.
Sew the flag/houses to the bottom of block 10.
