December mystery kits are ready

 We realize this time of year is busy for everyone.  We prepared the mystery a little early this month so you can drop by when you have a minute to pick up your kits.  

We think you'll agree with us when we tell you, "this is a cute one".

The quilt is pictured with the optional borders.

Second Sat. sampler block 8

 For this block you will need:

6) 4" red squares

6) 4" white squares

2) 3" blue squares

2) 3" light squares

4) 2 1/2" blue

1) 2 1/2" light square

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4" white squares.  Place these (right sides together and outside edges aligned) with the 4" red squares.  

Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the line.  Cut on the line.  Square to 3 1/2 inches and press toward the red.

Draw a diagonal line on the back of the 2) 3-inch light squares.  Place these (right sides together and outside edges aligned) with the 3-inch blue squares.  

Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the line.  Cut on the drawn line.  Square to 2 1/2 inches and press toward the blue.

Using the photo below, arrange the components and sew together to create the block.

November Mystery correction

 We discovered an error in the cutting instructions for the November mystery quilt.  We ask you to cut 30) 6 1/2-inch squares.  It should read 15) 6 1/2 -inch squares.  Please note the change on your instructions.

November mystery and other stuff

 The November mystery quilt turned out really cheery!

The borders on this one are optional - supplies are limited.

FYI - we will be closing early on Wednesday and remain closed through Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

All Christmas kits and all yardage will be on sale for 30% off for 3 hours only on Saturday the 26th!  (10:00 until 1:00)

December mystery quilt will be using the Hello Winter collection by Riley Blake.  This is a warm and cozy flannel collection.  You're gonna want one!

We will release this one early on Dec. 20th as we will be closed for much of the week after Christmas.

Second Sat. Sampler block 7

 For this block you will need:

8) 4-inch background squares

4) 4-inch blue squares

4) 4-inch red squared

Draw a diagonal line on the back of the background squares.

Place a background square with each of the red and blue squares making sure the right sides are together and the outside edges are aligned.

Sew 1/4 inch on both sides of the drawn line.

Cut on the drawn line.

Square to measure 3 1/2 inches.  

Press toward the blue or red fabric.

Assemble as shown in the photo to create the block.

October mystery

 The October mystery kits are ready.

We used and easy stack and whack method to complete this quilt. It sewed up quickly in an afternoon. Its a great way to showcase some fun colors and cute prints.

We will be using the Sunshine & Dewdrops collection designed by Sandy Gervais for Riley Blake Fabrics for the November mystery quilt.

Event reminder, Oct. mystery fabric

Second Sat. Sampler block 6

 For this block you will need:

4) light with flower clusters

4) light with blue little flowers

4) red

4) blue

Draw a diagonal line on the back of all of the light squares.

Match 4 of the light squares with 4 blue squares making sure the outside edges are aligned and the right sides are together.  Sew 1/4 inch on both sides of the drawn line.  Cut on the line.  Trim the block to measure 3 1/2 inches.  Press toward the blue.

Repeat matching the other white with the red squares.

Assemble and sew as shown in the photo.

We are still working on fabric for the October mystery quilt.  We'll post a photo as soon as we can.

Second Sat. Sampler block 5

 For this block you will need:

4) 4-inch light squares

2) 4-inch red squares

2) 4-inch light blue squares

4) 3 1/2-inch red plaid squares

4) 3 1/2-inch light blue squares

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4-inch light squares.  Match 2 with the 4-inch red squares and 2 with the 4-inch light blue squares.  Make sure the right sides are together and the outside edges are aligned.  

Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the line.  Cut on the line.  Square the patches to measure 3 1/2 inches.  Press toward the darker print.

Refer to the photo to arrange the components and complete the block.

August Mystery Quilt

 The kits for the August mystery quilt are now available.  Becky put a little sumpn, sumpn extra into this one.  She is hand stenciling the "Hello Fall" accent panel for ya'll. It gives the quilt an extra punch.  I'm sure you'll agree, the quilt is amazing!

We will be using fabric from the Mulberry Lane collection for the September Mystery quilt.

Second Sat. Sampler block 4

 We have finished cutting all of the blocks for this quilt, so... for those of you who were waiting, the remaining fabric is now available to purchase.  We also have some of the wide backing fabric for only $14.00 per yard.  (It only takes 2 1/4 yards - not a bad deal for a quilt back.)

For this block you will need;

8) 4" background squares

4) 4" pink floral squares

4) 4" red squares

To sew the block, draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4" background squares.

Match each of the background squares with a red or pink square, making sure the outside edges are aligned and the right sides are together.  

I think you know the rest.  (Refer to a previous block, if needed.)

July mystery quilt

Happy holiday weekend!  The shop will be closed Monday to celebrate Pioneer Day at home with part of the fam.

We finished the July mystery quilt a little early.  You are welcome to stop by and pick up your kits.

 

Becky created matching throw pillows to go with the quilt.  Of course, we have kits available for them as well.  It's a little hard to see in the photo but there is also a matching miniature quilt that hangs from the metal stand that many of you have already purchased.

We backed the quilt with cozy flannel which is also available while supplies last.

We are planning a fall quilt using the Adele in Autumn collection for the August mystery.

Second Sat. Sampler block 3

Several of you have already picked up your squares.  I pulled some from the wrong basket - you probably have block 4 instead of block 3.  Please check to make sure the fabrics are the correct ones for this block.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

For block three you will need:

8) 4" light squares

4) 4" blue squares

4) 4" red squares

I'm guessing you probably have it down by now but we will write the words anyway.

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the light 4" squares.  Match each of these with a red or blue square.  Sew 1/4" on each side of the drawn line.  Cut on the line.  

Trim to measure 3 1/2 inches square.  Press toward the blue or the red print.  

Arrange the half square triangles and sew together as shown in the photo below.

June 2022 mystery quilt

 The June mystery quilt kits are ready.

It will make a great addition to your sewing room or a simple snuggler to cozy up under or a very thoughtful gift for a quilter friend.

We will be doing Christmas in July for next month's mystery quilt using Christmas at Buttermilk Farms layer cakes with a few coordinating fabrics.

Lastly, this Friday, all kits and yardage (excluding Christmas) will be discounted 20% and select layer cakes for only $30.00.  We will also continue our First Friday sale with select yardage only $5.99 per yard.

Second Sat. Sampler block 2

 For this block you will need:

4) 4" cream squares

4) 3 1/2" cream squares

4) 4" blue squares

2) 3 1/2" red square

1) 4" red square

1) 4" pink square

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4" cream squares.

Match each of these to a 4" blue square making sure the right sides are together and the outside edges are aligned.  

Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn line.  

Cut on the line.

Trim to 3 1/2" inches and press toward the blue print.  (Create 8 blue & cream half square triangles.)

Repeat the process using the pink and red 4" squares to create 2) red and pink half square triangles.

Arrange and sew the half-square triangles and 3 1/2 inch squares as shown in the photo to complete the block.

May mystery quilts

 First of all - have a great Memorial Day weekend!

We created a bonus back for this one which makes the quilt reversible.  

The Big Boy Quilt-

With the optional borders, as shown, the quilts finish about 70 x 80 inches.

2022 Second Sat. Sampler

 We have had a few folks ask for a photo of the sampler quilt we just finished so here it is.

Hopefully the photo is good enough to get an idea of block placement.

April Mystery Quilt

 We had a little hiccup waiting for the border fabric for the April mystery to arrive.  It finally came so here is the finished quilt.

As usual, the photo isn't doing it justice.  The more we have worked with the quilt the more intriguing it has become. 

The optional borders, binding and backing fabric are all now available so come and get 'em.

The May mystery quilt will be a choice between a "little guy" quilt or a "big guy" quilt.

Second Sat. Sampler block 12

 This is the last block folks!  We hope you have enjoyed the journey.

For this block you will need:

4) 4-inch light squares\

4) 4-inch green print squares

4) 3 1/2-inch green print squares

2) 3 1/2-inch green plaid squares

2) 3 1/2-inch pink squares

Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4-inch light squares.

Place each of these with a 4-inch green print square making sure the rights sides are together and the outside edges are aligned.

Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the line.

Cut on the line.  Trim to 3 1/2 inches and press toward the green print.

Arrange the pieces as shown in the photo at the top of the post and sew together.

New Saturday Sampler

We are starting a new sampler the second Saturday in May.  This one uses a pattern we did a few years back.  We have had requests repeat it - so we are.

Here is a preview of a few of the blocks.

March Mystery Quilt

The March mystery quilt is pretty darn quick and easy!

 

The kits are ready.

We will be using a layer cake from the Sonnet Dusk collection by Riley Blake for the April Mystery quilt.  

We will be starting a new Second Saturday Sampler quilt in May.  The quilt will use the Belle Isle collection by Minnick and Simpson for Moda fabrics.

Twenty four dollars will get you all twelve blocks.  We hope to post a photo of the  quilt in the very near future, so stay tuned.

For this block you will need:

4) 4-inch pink squares

4) 4-inch light squares

4) 3 1/2 inch pink squares

1) 3 1/2 inch green plaid square

4) 2 1/2 inch light squares

4) 2 1/2 inch black floral squares

4) 2-inch light squares

I'm thinking most of you could create the block without any instructions at this point but just in case...

Draw a diagonal line on the back of  the 4-inch light squares.  Match each of these with a 4-inch pink square making sure the right sides are together and the outside edges are aligned.  

Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn line.  Cut on the line.  Square to 3 1/2 inches and press toward the pink.

Repeat the process using the 2 1/2 inch light and black floral squares.  Square these to 2 inches and press toward the black.

Arrange the components and sew together as shown in the photo above.

February Mystery Quilt

 The February mystery quilt is done!  

As usual, the colors are more vibrant in real life but hopefully, this gives you a good idea.

We added 8 blocks to the mystery pattern to make it a little larger.  We do have a limited number of extension kits if you like the larger size.

Please be aware that we will be closed the first week of March as we will be vending and teaching at the Spring Quilt retreat at Bryce Canyon.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
