Welcome to this year's Second Saturday Sampler Quilt. We hope you enjoy the journey.
For block one you will need:
6) 4-inch background squares
6) 4-inch red squares
4) 4-inch blue squares
To create the block, draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 4-inch background squares and two of the 4-inch red squares.
Place the red squares (with the drawn line) with two of the blue squares, making sure the right sides are facing and the outside edges are aligned.
Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the drawn lines. Cut on the line. Square to 3 1/2 inches. (The Quilt in a Day triangle square up ruler makes this a snap.) Trim the excess points from the seams to eliminate bulk. Press.
Match the remaining red and blue squares to a background square and repeat the process.
Arrange and sew the half-square triangle blocks as shown in the photo below to complete the block.
