November Mystery Quilt
We wanted to highlight the doll print with this quilt so we chose to do a simple 16 patch alternating with a doll square. I think the design really suits the flavor of the fabric.
First you will strip piece the 16 patches.
Sew four different strips together along the length of the strips.
Create another set with four different fabrics.
Create eight strip sets in different fabric combinations.
Press the sets and cut into 2 1/2 inch segments.
Sew four different 2 1/2 inch segments together to create the sixteen patches. Note: If you plan ahead you can press the sets in opposite directions so the seams nest together helping the corners to line up perfectly.
Create 28 sixteen patch blocks.
Cut 28) 8 1/2 inch squares from the doll fabric. (Trim the selvage carefully so you can get 5 squares across the width of the fabric.)
Alternate the sixteen patch blocks with the doll squares according to the instructions to assemble the quilt.
Quilt as desired. Bind and enjoy! (We machine washed and dried the quilt to give it a shriveled, antique feel.)
We will be using the Aesop's fables collection of fabric from Penny Rose designs for our December Mystery Quilt. To avoid the busy holiday season, the December mystery quilt will be revealed and kits released on January 5, 2016.

Five fifty five Friday
Tomorrow (Nov. 6) is the first Friday of the month! That means it is time for our monthly $5.55 sale. Come stock up for all those holiday projects we know you are planning.
We have added new bolts to the shelf.
We loved the black collection so much we had to cut some off for ourselves before we put it on the shelves.
See you tomorrow!

October Mystery Quilt
Follow the instructions for cutting.
Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 2 1/4 inch off white and coral squares. Place three off white squares on three corners of each of the 6 inch print squares. Place a coral square on the remaining corner. Sew on the drawn lines.
Trim 1/4 inch from the sewn line.
Press the corners back.
Repeat to create 48 squares.
Sew 4 matching squares together to create a block. Make sure the coral triangles all meet in the middle.
Create 12 blossoms.
Border each of the blocks with the off white strips. Blocks should measure 13 1/2 inches square.
We used the remaing prints to create a scrappy sashing. Cut the prints into random lengths 3 inches wide. Sew end to end. (We decided to use cornerstones so we didn't get odd looking seams at the intersections.) You will need 6) three inch squares for the corner stones. From the joined sashing strips cut 17) 13 1/2 inch lengths.
Arrange the blocks into 4 rows with three blocks in each row. Sew a 13 1/2 inch sashing strip between each block. Sew 2 corner stone squares between 3)13 1/2 inch sashing strips. (Create 3 of these strips.) Sew a sashing strip between each of the rows.
Border the entire quilt with the remaining scrappy sashing strips.
Kinda cute, don't you think? At this point the quilt measures about 49" x 64". If you add the optional borders as shown below it is about 60 1/2" by 76".

Heavenly Stars correction
We discovered an error in the instructions for the last mystery quilt. We have you cut 7" red and 7" green squares for the medium sized star. When we have you putting them together in the pattern it says to match the 7" green with the 7" cream. Cream should have been green.
Sorry for the confusion. Have fun making the quilt.

September Mystery
Here it is.....
Draw 2 diagonal lines on the
back of the red 8” squares. Place (right
sides together) with the cream 8” squares.
Sew ¼” on both sides of the lines.
Cut on the lines and horizontally and vertically in the center of the
square.
Each square will yield (8)
half square triangles.
Square the triangle squares to 3½”. (We love the triangle square up ruler from Quilt in a Day for this.) Trim off the corners at the seams to eliminate bulk. Press toward the red fabric. Repeat using all five of the red and the cream 8” square sets to create a total of 40) half square triangle blocks.
Sew the triangles in sets of two. Four sets need cream star points, sixteen sets need red star points.
Sew two of the star point sets to either side of a red square.
Sew a cream square to each end of two red star point units.
Sew these units to the top and bottom of the center section to complete the star block. Create four red star blocks and one cream star block as shown below.
Draw a diagonal
line on the back of each of the 13” cream squares. Match, right sides together, with the green
13” squares. Sew ¼” on each side of the
drawn line and cut on the line.
Press and square up to 12 ½”.
Press and square up to 12 ½”.
Repeat this process using the 7” red and green (this read cream in the instructions - sorry) squares. Trim the resulting triangle squares to measure 6½”.
To create the piano keys sew the 2 ½” green strips to the 2 ½” red strips along the length of the strips. Press and cut into 5” inch segments. Sew 11 of these segments side by side starting with a green. You will need to un-pick one additional green to finish each row. Create two piano key strips. Sew a 1½” x 5” red (tone on tone) strip to each end of both of the piano key sections.
Assemble the quilt from the
inside star and work out. The cream star
goes in the center. Sew the 6½” red and green half square triangles
together to create the the four red star points. Sew one of these to each side of the center
star.
Sew a 6½” green square to each end of the
last two (red) star point sets.
Sew the 12½” green and cream half square triangles in sets of two to form the large star points. Assemble like the smaller versions using the red star blocks in the corners.
Sew a 1½” x
48 ½” red on red strip to the top and bottom of the quilt.
Sew the
piano key units to the top and bottom of the quilt.
Sew the
remaining 1½” red on red to the top and bottom.

August Mystery
You could do almost anything with this beautiful collection of fabrics and it would turn out well. I think Becky's creation hits the mark. Get ready to create some half square triangles!
Follow the directions for cutting in the pattern. To create the half square triangles match two of the squares with right sides together. (Try for a little contrast between the fabrics.) Draw a diagonal line on the back of one of the fabrics.
(the photo is not great, but you can see the line.)
Sew 1/4 inch on each side of the line and then cut on the line.
Square each triangle to 4 1/2 inches. (We love the 6 1/2 inch triangle square up ruler for this task. Make sure to place the 4 1/2 inch mark on the stitch line.)
Trim the corners to eliminate bulk at the intersections.
Press the triangles open.
Repeat to create a total of 192 half square triangle blocks.
Sew the half square triangles into sets of four. Make sure the angles are all running the same direction. Becky placed all of the darkest triangles in the bottom position.
Sew a sashing strip between 6 blocks to form a row.
Create 8 rows.
Sew green corner squares between sashing strips to create the sashing rows.
Create 7 sashing rows and sew between each of the block rows.
Sew the 2" inch border strips all around the quilt.
We chose to add an optional final border as shown in the photo below.
Quilt as desired. Bind and enjoy!
We are considering a Christmas themed quilt for September. We will post the fabrics as soon as we finalize them so stay tuned!
